PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

30 YEARS OF CARING FOR YOUR CAR

When nothing is wrong with your car at all and you are coming in for preventative maintenance you are insuring that your car will continue to serve you well for years to come. The manufacturer of every type of car spells out the routine maintenance schedule for every model they make.
While cynics may believe that the routine maintenance schedule is designed to keep the dealership’s repair shops busy; smart people know that a dollar spent on maintenance can save ten dollars on repairs.
The whole idea of preventative maintenance is to have us catch problems before they leave you stranded.

Scheduled Auto Maintenance Services:

Most auto manufacturers are going to recommend that we check or change brake fluid, engine coolant and transmission fluid at 30,000 miles. We would also change spark plugs, engine air filter, cabin air filter and the fuel filter.
When your car reaches 60,000 miles then we are doing all the things we would have done at 30,000 miles plus we may need to change the timing belt and check the valves to see if they need an adjustment.

Cars are made of parts that contain metals, rubber, plastic and many of these parts move and rub on other parts. Over time things will break down and will require repairs. When you have moving parts as you do in your engine, transmission and wheels something is sure to break one day and the only problem is that we don’t know what day. The best way to have a reliable vehicle is to maintain that vehicle before things go wrong. For example, if you are going on a long trip wouldn’t you feel more comfortable knowing that our ASE Certified technicians inspected all the systems of your auto before your trip begins?

Imagine being only 50 miles or 75 miles from home and your car stalls and you are forced to pull off the road. You will have to decide then if you want to pay a fortune in towing costs to bring your car back to Hollywood or take your chances on the closest repair shop. If you are on the Turnpike the closest repair shop may not be very close at all.

At 90,000 miles then we will recheck all the items in the previous two checkups. Additionally we may need to replace hoses, drive belts may show signs of cracking, we would inspect motor mounts and suspension. We may also see oil leaks caused by gaskets cracking and breaking.
Preventive maintenance is the best way to ensure your vehicle stays reliable. Plus, you’ll avoid major repairs and the expenses that come with them. At Jumbo Auto Repair in Hollywood Florida, we provide a complete preventive maintenance program. Not only that, wehave a large inventory of parts in stock. Plus, we have ASE Certified Technicians that will keep small problems from becoming big ones. Naturally, we inspect all the fluids, oils, filters and belts on your vehicle. Plus, you’ll enjoy our clean waiting room while we service your vehicle.
Preventivemaintenance begins with a review of the owner’s manual of your vehicle. Sure, it sounds basic, but that manual was written for a reason. Naturally, the owner’s manual tells us when to change all of the fluids and filters. Typically, fluid changes are no big deal and you’ll be out of our repair shop quickly. Your vehicle has many different fluids that keep your car running smoothly, without overheating. Consequently, we’ll check your engine oil, automatic transmission fluid, brake fluid, anti-freeze, power steering and wiper fluids.
We also check all of the hoses for leaks that can be caused by stones and road debris. Next we check all the belts to ensure that they don’t show signs of excessive wear or slipping.

Your vehicle has many filters that will need to be inspected. Plus, you have a fuel filter, oil filter, engine air filter, transmission fluid filter and some vehicles have an cabin air filter. Obviously, these filters keep microscopic particles from causing wear and tear on the vehicle. Of course, dirty filters can also cause you to use more gas than you should have to. Naturally, a combustion engine needs to mix fuel and air in order to work. Consequently, if either of those two filters is dirty, the combustion is incomplete and you’ll burn more gas. Plus, that can make a huge difference in how pleasant a car is to be inside.

Tire alignment and balancing is an important area of preventive maintenance. This is not just about keeping your tires from wearing out sooner than they should. When your tires are out of alignment or not balanced it puts physical strain on the vehicle. For example, your suspension, braking and drivetrain all suffer when the tires are not aligned and balanced. Consequently, it’s safer, easier and less expensive to keep the tires aligned and balanced.
